In this workshop we will explore the key concepts and practices around Open Education and how they can be integrated into teaching and learning. We will look at the role BCcampus can play to support you and your institution in adopting open practices, including the adoption of textbooks from the BCcampus Open Textbook collection to assign to your class. We will discuss issues of quality, pedagogy and impact on students; and explore the concepts of Open Educational Resources and how they impact quality in education. You will also learn about the BC Open Textbook Accessibility Toolkit, a tool developed by BCcampus to support faculty in the development of accessible content for learning and promote aspects of Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
Rosario Passos is BCcampus’ Advisor for Open Education.
