Home Use Rights are available to Faculty, Staff, and Administrator employee groups for a small nominal fee (approximately $10.00 for each suite).

You may have Home Use Rights for as long as you remain an ECU employee.
Home Use Rights applies to both Mac and PC computers.
Home Use Rights are available for two software suites

  • Microsoft Office
  • Adobe Creative Cloud

Microsoft Office
Media and serial numbers for Microsoft Office are accessed through a Microsoft distribution website. Please use this link for further information: http://www.ecuad.ca/resources/its/Microsoft_Office_Home_Use To login, you will need to enter in your Emily Carr username and password (the same one you use to access your Emily Carr e-mail)

Adobe Creative Cloud
Adobe Creative Cloud is available by requesting a redemption code which will enable a 1 year subscription/access to the Creative Cloud.

  • Please send the following information to adobesoftware@ecuad.ca
    • Help Desk ticket number
    • Faculty/Staff number
    • Faculty/Staff e-mail address

Send this information from your Emily Carr e-mail address. You will receive a reply with further instructions to follow.
*Please note there is no support from ITS regarding Home Use Rights related software problem

If you have never been eligible for an Adobe CC subscription through Emily Carr previously, you will have received an e-mail inviting you to register with Kivuto and collect your redemption code.

You will need to follow these steps:

  1. Register with Kivuto
  2. Once Registered/Logged in to Kivuto, click on the Creative Cloud icon
  3. Click Add to Cart
  4. Ignore any “recommended” options and continue ordering.
  5. You will eventually be presented with your redemption code in red coloured text. Very carefully copy this code and save it.
  6. Click Redeem now if you would like to immediately use your redemption code to start your Creative Cloud subscription.
  7. You will be taken to the Adobe Website. If you have an Adobe ID, login. If you don’t, Create and Adobe ID (you don’t have to use your Emily Carr e-mail address for your Adobe ID).
  8. Paste in your redemption code to activate your membership/subscription
  9. At this point you can start installing software.

    If you were eligible in a previous year for an Adobe CC subscription through Emily Carr then you WILL NOT get an e-mail from Kivuto. Your account exists with Kivuto already (even if you never collected your previous year’s redemption code). Your instructions are to go to http://ecuad.onthehub.com and log in with your username which is your Emily Carr e-mail address (i.e. ecarr@ecuad.ca)

Adobe SketchUp Pro
Teacher Licenses are available for free to teachers who would like to use SketchUp Pro as a part of their curriculum. In order to qualify for a free SketchUp Pro Teacher License, you must:

  • Be a teacher at an accredited educational institution.
  • Provide a current faculty ID, course syllabus, or other similar document issued from the school that states you are a teacher or faculty member.

Apple Software
Unfortunately, Apple does not make available to the University software for home use, but you can get a discount for Apple or any Apple products. Please visit our Campus Apple Store at http://www.ecuad.ca/resources/its/applestore for more information on pricing and products.

If you show your Emily Carr staff card, you can also get discounts at any University bookstore such as SFU’s or UBC’s that also sell products.
