2012 AICAD Symposium Website – aicad.ecuad.ca
November 1 – 3, 2012
Hosted by Emily Carr University of Art + Design,
in collaboration with the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design (AICAD)
Emily Carr hosted Remaking Research, an AICAD “working symposium” centred on the pragmatics and possibilities of creative practice as research, both within art and design institutions and in the context of interdisciplinary, inter–institutional, and partnered relations. The symposium was co-hosted by the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design (AICAD).
Investigating the philosophical provocations provided by human–centered, expressive and experimental approaches to knowledge formation and critical inquiry, this gathering centred around a series of primary themes and workshops, with the intent of sharing existing knowledge, showcasing new projects and contemporary methodologies, and addressing practical and ethical concerns involved in building successful research partnerships.
Emily Carr gratefully acknowledges the support of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, the Canada Council for the Arts, and the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design.
ReMaking ReSearch, a Series of Dialogues
The Emily Carr Provost’s Office is pleased to present ReMaking ReSearch, a series of dialogues on emerging research practices at Emily Carr and in the fields of art and design more broadly. This series will lead up to a major symposium on Research in Art and Design that Emily Carr will host in the fall of 2012, in partnership with the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design (AICAD). It is intended as an opportunity to discuss the current state and future agenda for “research” at Emily Carr and to generate some of the key themes, questions, and issues that will animate the symposium in the fall.
